Judo: Class 18: Harai Goshi - Pushing Aerobics

So to help me get more ‘gas’ I’ve been doing ‘HIIT’ exercise on my stationary bike and the rowing machine and stationary bikes at YMCA. This means doing sprints basically where you do all out effort followed by slower effort to recover before doing another burst.

This is drastically helping my stamina and capacity for Judo. it is really nice to actually be training FOR something instead of ‘just trying to get in a shape’.

The Judo mat is a real place, with real physical demands that I can imagine and see a need to improve physically. This gives me actual motivation to exercise that I’ve never had. This might be the secret that makes ‘Fitness attempt number 15’ a permanent success.

I haven’t been dropping much weight though, but I’m getting much stronger. So that is a fair trade. I also look a LOT better/slimmer in the mirror, with improving postures. So this whole thing is working and it’s been how long? Since May? Get your ass on the mat, this is good stuff!

Anyway, tonight we learned yet another O-goshi variation, Harai Goshi. This also has a leg sweep and by gosh I just had trouble with this one. You have to turn in with your right foot and then balance and sweep with your left. It’s awkward. But I’m having a blast, learning a lot, and improving so I don’t care Happy

Loving Judo.

Juu-Ichi-Dan or death!
